On the Riviera Maya, about 45 minutes south of the Cancun airport, in the gated, beachfront community called Playacar. Just south of, and in walking distance of Playa del Carmen (20 minutes). The hotel is on an excellent white sand beach, overlooking the island of Cozumel.

An enormous palapa covers the marble floored lobby, leading to a courtyard with an open air theatre, specialty restaurants, and a main buffet restaurant. The kids club is the best in the Riviera Maya. Expansive beach with fine white powdered sugar sand, and gin-clear turquoise water.

All meals are buffet, or optional a-la-carte dining at Mexican, Italian, and Mediterranean restaurants. Dress code and day prior reservations required for the a-la-carte restaurants. Gentlemen wear slacks and a nice shirt. Children under age 7 are not permitted in the Italian or Mexican restaurants after 7pm. Alternative arrangements can be made through the Kids Club.

460 airconditioned rooms and junior suites. Standard rooms have two double beds or one-king bed, bathroom with shower only, hair dryer, satellite tv, mini-bar, safe, phone, coffee maker, and balcony or patio. Garden or pool view.

Royal Club rooms are located OCEAN FRONT, directly facing the ocean. These rooms have one king bed only. Club guests also get upgraded amenities, and a private beach area. The top floor ocean views are incredible! Maximum two per room in this category.

Junior Suites are located in the Hacienda section, to the right of the main entrance. These rooms are the newest, and have two double beds, plus a sofa sleeper, and will accommodate up to 5 persons. They are clustered in 10 unit buildings, each with it's own private pool. Cribs are available at no extra charge. 24 hr room service, included. There are 4 handicap rooms.

Golf is nearby, at Playacar. Robert Von Hagge, 7202 yard championship course, rated 73.1. Greens fees approx $120 with cart. Club rentals are available for $30. Lessons offered.

Guests have choice of 4 beautiful pool areas, including one set aside for adults only. There is large shallow area in the main pool for smaller kids to swim. Waiter service is available to bring drinks to your lounge chair, either at the pool or on the beach.

The Kids Club is among the best in the Rivera Maya. It offers a separate fenced facility, with electronic gate to control access. Once inside, there is a registration and reservation desk, arts and crafts area, stage, their own cafeteria, a small tot pool with slide, and a larger kids pool with slide. Playground equipment and lots of shade too. Also air conditioned rooms with mats for video games and afternoon movies during the heat of the day. Separate air conditioned room for tots with cribs. There are specially trained personnel to supervise & entertain children from age 4-12, plus special activities for juniors up to 17 years old. Hours of operation are 10am to 11pm. All of this is included at no extra charge. We have used the kids club many times, and have never been dissappointed. We do tip the staff.

The beach in front of this hotel remains as the best beach in Playacar (April 2007).  Fine, white sand, everyone will love it.  Sandos has bought the adjacent undeveloped property to the south.  Expect another property to be added in the future.

There is a real Mayan ruin on hotel property, next to the main swimming pool.
